IOL Power Calculation

IOL Power Calculation

IOL Master

This is the most sophisticated and accurate way to determine the power of the intraocular lens (IOL) implant for cataract surgery.  The IOL Master allows fast, accurate measurements of eye length and surface curvature, necessary for cataract surgery.  The IOL Master is efficient as it allows measurements to be taken with confidence in the accuracy of results.  Furthermore, it is a non-contact (nothing touches the eye and no drops are needed) and non-invasive device.

Ultrasound biomicroscopy utilizes high-frequency transducers to obtain high resolution. Our unit, with a 50 MHz transducer, achieves a resolution of approximately 50 microns and has a tissue penetration of 4-5 mm. Scanning is performed with the patient in the supine position under standardized room lighting conditions. Scanning is performed under topical anesthesia using a 20 mm eye cup which is inserted between the lids and filled with saline solution. In vivo, cross-sectional or transverse images can then be obtained detailing the cornea, iris, ciliary body, anterior chamber angle, and peripheral sclera to demonstrate structural relationships.

Ultrasound Biometry

Ultrasound biometry is an invasive measurement method that requires direct contact with the cornea to measure the axial length in the presence of a very dense cataract or corneal edema where optical biometry is not useful.  It evaluates the anatomical characteristics of the eye to determine the correct power of an intraocular lens before it is implanted during cataract surgery.

This innovative technology creates a detailed map of unique characteristics of the eye in order to customize the cataract surgery and provide precise lens placement more efficiently.

ITrace offers integrated corneal topography and wavefront aberrometry for unique analysis separating corneal and internal aberrations of the eye – a complete function analyzer that can improve surgical planning and help determine the best vision correction treatment for your patients.
•Select the correct aspheric IOL
•Improve treatment outcomes for refractive, AK’s, accommodative & multifocal IOL’s,
•Analyze refractions on a multi-zone basis
•Assess highly aberrated eyes in the most complex cases
•Track visual function over time

Pentacam AXL Wave

It is the first device that combines Scheimpflug tomography with optical biometry, total wavefront, objective refraction, and retroillumination. It provides reliable data that are necessary for pre-op assessment and post-op evaluation of cataract and refractive surgeries.

ACE (Advanced Corneal Explorer)

ACE combines the swept-source OCT imaging technology with corneal imaging to enhance diagnostic confidence and accuracy for cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and follow-up of corneal pathologies. ACE is intended for visualization and measurements of the anterior segment of the eye and the measurement of axial length and analysis of the eye.
